Spider-Man Returns To MCU For A Third Movie After Marvel 'Mended Fences' With Sony

Looks like fans would get their wishes granted after all! Ever since the dispute between Sony and Disney was announced, fans were devastated to hear that both companies won't be collaborating any further.

Fans wanted Spider-Man to stay in the MCU so much that they even made a petition that reached up to 83k signs. Tom Holland became a crowd-favorite as the live-action incarnation of Peter Parker and it would be a shame for Spidey-fans to only see the actor in a few Marvel movies.

Well, it seems like it's looking good for the fans though since Deadline reports that Kevin Feige "mended fences" and eventually made a deal to bring back Spider-Man in the MCU. There aren't many details yet but reports say Sony and Disney will work together on Spider-Man 3 which is set to be released on July 16th, 2021. The deal includes Spider-Man to show up in one additional MCU film, though the film is still yet to be known as of now.

"I am thrilled that Spidey's journey in the MCU will continue, and I and all of us at Marvel Studios are very excited that we get to keep working on it," says Kevin Feige. He adds, "Spider-Man is a powerful icon and hero whose story crosses all ages and audiences around the globe. He also happens to be the only hero with the superpower to cross cinematic universes…"

Feige even included a statement that deems intriguing for the fans, "...So as Sony continues to develop their own Spidey-verse you never know what surprises the future might hold." So, would Sony still use Spider-Man outside the MCU?

Amy Pascal shares her excitement as well, "This is terrific. Peter Parker's story took a dramatic turn in Far From Home and I could not be happier we will all be working together as we see where his journey goes." Even acknowledging that this was a "winning partnership" for the studios, the franchise, and of course, the fans.

The details are yet to be announced but We Got This Covered says Spider-Man 3 is said to finish the trilogy that started back in Homecoming, as well as concluding Peter Parker's journey in the MCU. It will be made on a satisfying note since most of the cast from the first two movies are expected to return.

Spider-Man 3 is expected to be released on July 16, 2021.
