There is little doubt that people are already looking forward to the sequel to Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse. After all, the animated feature had won several awards and fans are expecting the second film to be just as exciting. However, the wait for Miles Morales' return just got a little longer. A new report confirms that Sony Pictures Animation is pushing Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse 2 to a later premiere date in 2022.

The Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse sequel was initially scheduled to hit theaters on April 8, 2022. Unfortunately, Deadline reports that the release date has been pushed to later in October. This means that the second movie will be premiere almost four years after the first film.

Interestingly, Spider-Verse 2 isn't the only Spider-Man project that will be delayed in the future. It was previously reported that the still-untitled Spider-Man 3 will be pushed back to premiere on November 5, 2021. The third movie was originally scheduled for release on July 16, 2021. Nevertheless, fans believe that the delay will allow the cast and crew to have more time to work on the projects.

Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse 2 is expected to bring back Shameik Moore as Miles Morales, Hailee Steinfeld as Gwen Stacy, Jake Johnson as Peter B. Parker, and John Mulaney as Peter Porker aka Spider-Ham. The sequel is now scheduled for release on October 7, 2022.
