Spider-Man and Mysterio Stand Together in New Cover for Empire

Mysterio is best known as a Spider-Man villain in the comics, but he's being made out to be a hero in the upcoming Spider-Man: Far From Home. Empire has just released a new issue covering the movie, and the cover has Spider-Man and Mysterio standing together as allies.

It's said that the movie will have a sort of sibling dynamic between the two characters, with Mysterio acting like a ‘big brother' to Peter in the movie. Whereas Nick Fury is said to be the hardened step-dad to Peter, Quentin Beck will be there to try and mentor him in a way that Tony Stark did—which makes it all the more devastating when he's revealed to be a villain.

For now, everyone is convinced that the "Elementals" in the movie were all a ruse by Mysterio to masquerade as a hero and get all the praise. I'm fine if the film manages to subvert expectations though, but only if it stays true to the character. Nobody saw that Mandarin twist in Iron Man 3 coming, but every comic fan was reeling in their seats when Aldrich Killian claimed himself as the
"true" Mandarin.

Our friendly neighborhood Super Hero decides to join his best friends Ned, MJ, and the rest of the gang on a European vacation. However, Peter's plan to leave super heroics behind for a few weeks are quickly scrapped when he begrudgingly agrees to help Nick Fury uncover the mystery of several elemental creature attacks, creating havoc across the continent.

Spider-Man: Far From Home is set to hit theaters July 2.
