Sony Reportedly Lying About Dead Spider-Man Deal To Push Its Offer On Disney

For the past few weeks, Marvel fans have been holding on to the hope that Sony manages to clear things up with Disney about the studios' Spider-Man agreement, allowing Tom Holland's wall-crawler to stay in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Unfortunately, Sony came out with news today saying that the deal may never really go through, declaring that the MCU door for Spider-Man was closed at the moment.

Now, a new report suggests that the studio may be lying about the state of the Spider-Man negotiations. According to Comic Book Movie writer and reviewer Mikey Sutton, Sony is making these kinds of announcements to put pressure on Disney so that the company settles with what the studio has prepared for in its Spider-Man negotiations.

The reports say that the deal that Sony wants to push is a 50/50 split over Spider-Man that would include more movies for the wallcrawler as well as bringing in villains like Venom into the MCU.

The writer says that the tactic the company is using right now is called "The Takeaway," a move commonly practiced in the business sector. This move was used in Disney and Fox's negotiation period. Right before Disney sealed the deal with Fox, there were similar reports saying that talks between the company had fallen through. A few weeks after, the deal had been signed.

Interestingly enough, Sony never did really confirm that the deal with Disney for Spider-Man had really fallen through. The studio only said that the door for the Spider-Man deal was closed at the moment.

Spider-Man: Far From Home is expected to get its digital release sometime in October this year.
