Instagram scooper CanWeGetToast has revealed the first official details of the rumored Venom animated movie. According to their information, Sony has enlisted Seth Rogen to write and produce the yet-untitled Venom project.

The Venom trilogy of movies is about to conclude in November when the live-action project starring Tom Hardy hits theaters. Although No Way Home had teased a possible Venom crossover to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, neither Marvel nor Disney has indicated any interest in capitalizing on that post-credits scene.

At this point, Sony may pursue an animated film with the alien symbiote known for frequent clashes with Spider-Man and other heroes in comic books. With Seth Rogen on board, the animated film is expected to have a more mature tone and be given an R-rating.

Rogen is one of the last remaining celebrities who has yet to take on a project with either Marvel or DC. In an interview last year, the actor-writer-producer indicated that he fears the process involved with those studios.

However, he has worked on another superhero franchise in animated form: the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles hit Summer 2023 movie Mutant Mayhem, for which Rogen wrote the screenplay and story and starred as the fan-favorite mutant, Bebop.

Although he confessed to love many things about Marvel, Rogen explained that he and Evan Goldberg have their own way of working. Because of that, he is apprehensive about how he and Goldberg could plug into that system, which he admitted to knowing nothing about.

“[It] seems like a very good system and a system that serves them very well," he said. “But is it a system we would ultimately get really frustrated with?”

Given these previous statements, it would appear that Rogen had negotiated a way to have more creative control over the Venom animated project before he got on board.

Stay tuned for more updates, as Sony will likely- release an official statement following this reveal.
