Song Joong Ki is selected to headline the cast of the upcoming film Hwaran.
The Hallyu star might have a back-to-back movie in the coming year if he officially agrees to become a part of the noir film.
Will Hwaran Be Song Joong Ki’s Newest Movie?
In a report cited by E Daily, the South Korean heartthrob has chosen Hwaran to be his next project.
Meanwhile, Song Joong Ki’s agency HISTORY D&C responded and told Joy News 24, that the actor is “positively reviewing his appearance in Hwaran."
Following the update on both parties, officials have yet to confirm what character he will be portraying.
Interestingly, the upcoming film follows the story of precarious people who make risky choices to escape hellish reality. In addition, Hwaran will be produced by Sanai Pictures and HISTORY D&C.
Song Joong Ki’s Kdrama Comeback The Youngest Son of a Conglomerate
Currently, Song Joong Ki is filming his new drama, The Youngest Son of a Conglomerate, opposite Hospital Playlist actress Shin Hyun Bin.
JTBC’s upcoming series is a fantasy drama based on the webtoon of the same name that depicts a story about a chaebol family’s secretary who is reborn as their youngest son.
In The Youngest Son of a Conglomerate, Song Joong Ki took on the role of Yoon Hyun Woo, who was framed for embezzlement and eventually murdered by the Sunyang Group family that he has been serving for years.
However, he was reincarnated to be the family’s youngest son, Jin Do Joon, and will use this as his revenge.
Meanwhile, Shin Hyun Bin portrays prosecutor Seo Min Young. She is under the anti-corruption department and is willing to break the law to serve justice.
With her fearless personality, she was dubbed the “grim reaper of the Sunyang Group family.” She is persistent in tracking down the family’s illegal practices including their hereditary succession.
However, during the process of her investigation, Seo Min Young gets involved with the family’s youngest son.
Song Joong Ki’s new drama will feature how their budding romance and personal goal will get in between their mission.
Joining the Hallyu star and Shin Hyun Bin is veteran actor Lee Sung Min as the Sunyang Group family’s patriarch Jin Yang Chul.
Adding to the list of cast members are Girl’s Generation’s Tiffany, Jo Han Chul, Kim Nam Hee, and more.
While the team is currently in production, The Youngest Son of a Conglomerate is slated to premiere in the second half of 2022.

Song Joong Ki’s Bogotá: City of the Lost
Apart from Song Joong Ki’s new drama and Hwaran, the Hallyu star is booked and busy with multiple projects.
One of the actor’s most awaited projects is his return to the big screen with Bogotá: City of the Lost.
In the wake of the health crisis, the team decided to begin the production but was halted several times due to restrictions.
As mentioned by Korea Herald, the filming began in January of 2020 in Colombia; unfortunately, the production team had to halt shooting in March and return to Korea due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
As of this writing, there’s no official release date yet, but viewers and fans are looking forward to seeing Song Joong Ki on the big screen after his blockbuster movie Space Sweepers with Kim Tae Ri.
