Singer-Songwriter Elvis Costello Highly Recommends Anime Series Keep Your Hands Off Eizouken!

In a recent column for Guardian, the English singer-songwriter Elvis Costello expressed his appreciation for the anime Keep Your Hands Off Eizouken! He not only liked the series, but also liked the anime’s opening theme song, “Easy Breezy” saying that it’s a “very cool theme song.”

Reading further into the column, Costello shared that the anime made an impact on him. It’s no wonder why he wanted to write about it. He commended from the anime’s storyboard up until his music. Many people can definitely agree that this anime was just far different from hundreds of the anime series out there as the anime (based on the manga of the same name) tackles the process of doing an anime project and much passion and resources it requires to make it work.

The anime adaptation received many positive reviews from fans and critics. It even won last year’s Crunchyroll Awards for Best Animation. Although there are always other series that talk about animation processes like Shiro Bako, Keeps Your Hands Off Eizouken! shares a more profound connection with animation and the passion that comes with it.

Many people have hoped that Keep Your Hands Off Eizouken will get a second season because it deserves to be. However, there is still no word or even slight hints of a second season in the works as of this writing.

Keep Your Hands Off Eizouken centers on Midori Asakusa, who has a long-time dream of becoming an anime creator. Upon reaching her first year of high school, she drags along her friends Sayaka Kanamori and Tsubame Mizusaki in creating their first anime short. Each of the girls has their own unique talents and abilities. Midori has the skills of a creative anime director, Kanamori is good with finances and keeping everything on the budget, and Tsubame is notable for her attention to detail on movement. If you’re looking for a fantastic underdog series to watch, then this series should be it!
