Shang-Chi Star Simu Liu Shades MCU Co-Stars As He Discusses Potential Sequel

Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings was a huge success at the box office and received well by critics and the audience. It's a great start for a new MCU hero who is set to be one of the faces of the franchise moving forward. Because of all this reception, it seems that a sequel is going to be inevitable, but Marvel Studios hasn't confirmed that a follow-up is in the works at the moment.

During his recent guesting on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, star Simu Liu was asked if he is aware that a sequel to the film is in the works. Unfortunately, it turns out that Marvel hasn't told him any plans yet and he blamed it on two of his MCU co-stars who are notorious for giving away spoilers.

He said in a joking manner, "Look, I feel like there may have been a day and age where they brought the actors in and they were like, 'Hey buddy, here's everything that's gonna happen,' but I just feel like there were certain things that happened that ruined it for all of us. I don't want to single anybody out, but shout out to [Tom] Holland, shout out to [Mark] Ruffalo. Really just mucked it up for the rest of us. So no, we have no idea."

Of course, Tom Holland and Mark Ruffalo are known for incidents in the past where they unintentionally gave away spoilers in interviews and such. It has been a recurring joke among the Marvel fandom for years now.

Given the overall results of the film, it is safe to say that Marvel will be moving ahead with a sequel to Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings and the post-credits scenes teased the potential storyline that the follow-up installment might explore. There's also a possibility that Shang-Chi or any of the surviving supporting characters will show up in another MCU film or series before the sequel. We will find out soon enough.
