OG Kdrama fans witnessed how Shin Hye Sun blossomed to become one of the most sought-after female leads in Hallyu.
Throughout her years in the industry, the 32-year-old beauty headlined a slew of notable series, bagged recognitions and scored a nomination at the prestigious 57th Baeksang Arts Awards for Best TV Actress for her impressive portrayal as Kim So Yong in the 2020 Kdrama, Mr. Queen.
However, just like every normal human being, Shin Hye Sun also struggled with her insecurities.
Shin Hye Sun’s Shocking Revelation
As noted by Koreaboo, during her guest appearance in SBS’s Jang Ye Won’s Night Like Today, the South Korean star nuggets honest personal details and revealed her biggest insecurities.
Who would have thought that despite having a stunning face and captivating charm like Shin Hye Sun, she once felt conscious about herself.
At the time, a caller praised the actress for her height. Hearing this, the Thirty But Seventeen star confessed that she used to be insecure about it.
Explaining why she felt this way, Shin Hye Sun revealed how she managed to turn things around and used it as her asset.
“Before, people used to look at me and ask me how I’m so tall. So I would cower in a corner. But now, I’m just thankful,” she tells host Jang Ye Won as noted by the outlet.
Interestingly, Kim Hye Sun’s revelation surprised many, including her Innocence co-star Bae Jong Ok.
The 57-year-old actress said that she was shocked with how tall she was in person when she first met her for the movie.
As for the Stranger star, she seemed to know why people get so shocked when she sees her in person.
“Normally, the camera only films me from the waist up. I think it’s also because my face is round,” she said.

How Tall is Shin Hye Sun?
Towering at 5 feet and 8 inches or 172cm, Shin Hye Sun is among the tallest Korean actresses in the Hallyu world.
Joining her is Bae Suzy and It’s Okay to Not Be Okay star Seo Ye Ji, who both stand 5’6, Jun Ji Hyun, Han Hyo Joo and model turned actress Gong Hyo Jin at 5’8 and Hallyu queen Choi Ji Woo at 5’9.
Shin Hye Sun’s New Drama
Debuted in 2013, Shin Hye Sun first landed in the hit youth drama School 2013, which stars Kim Woo Bin, Lee Lee Jong Suk, Jang Na Ra and more.
She then starred in her first-ever main Kdrama role in 2016 for the rom-com series Five Enough, joining Ahn Jae Wook, So Yoo Jin and Sung Hoon.
From then on, the 32-year-old beauty continued to prove her dominance as one of South Korea’s rising stars through her dramas Thirty But Seventeen, Stranger and Mr. Queen.
Now, she is set to possibly return to the small screen with two upcoming Kdramas. First is the webtoon-based series See You in My 19th Life, followed by Wax Doll.
