She-Hulk Head Writer Addresses Ghost Rider's Rumored Appearance in the Series

As teased by the trailers and promos that they released so far, She-Hulk: Attorney at Law is expected to feature a lot of easter eggs and references to the rest of the MCU as well as the Marvel Comics. One of the characters that fans are speculating that might make an appearance in the series is Ghost Rider after they spotted a "Johnny Blaze" easter egg reference in one of the promos.

However, when Deadline spoke with head writer and executive producer Jessica Gao during the show's premiere event last night, she confirmed that the easter egg that fans spotted is not a reference to Johnny Blaze. Instead, it was actually referring to the character of Donny Blaze (played by Rhys Coiro), who is not a new version of Ghost Rider.

"He’s not Ghost Rider — his name is Donny Blaze," Gao clarified before adding that the character is "just a magician who picked a stage name that he thought was going to get a lot of attention." She also noted that he will be a "big character in his episode but he is not Ghost Rider."

It looks like we won't be expecting any appearance from Ghost Rider during the course of the series (unless they'll drop a last-minute surprise) and this puts down all the speculations regarding the alleged "Johnny Blaze" easter egg in the promo that was spotted by fans.

While it might be disappointing to hear that the iconic Marvel character will not appear in the series, it doesn't put down any possibility that he will still show up in a future MCU project. Who knows, maybe down the line, Donny Blaze ends up having a connection to Johnny Blaze himself which would likely put Ghost Rider to be part of the MCU.

The series' logline reads: "Jennifer Walters (Maslany)—an attorney specializing in superhuman-oriented legal cases—must navigate the complicated life of a single, 30-something who also happens to be a green 6-foot-7-inch superpowered hulk."
