She-Hulk Footage Reveals New Origin Story for MCU Hero

We're now less than a month away before She-Hulk: Attorney at Law hits on Disney+ and they've been gearing up with their promotional campaign including the second trailer that they released during San Diego Comic-Con. While most of the exact plot details are under wraps, we do know that it will be in a legal procedural format and will feature familiar characters such as the Hulk and the Abomination.

However, in the brand new footage that was unveiled by Entertainment Tonight, it looks the MCU's take on the hero will have a different origin story from the comics. In the series, Jennifer Walters becomes She-Hulk as a result of accidentally getting contaminated by her cousin Bruce Banner/Hulk's blood during a car accident.

"Jennifer Walters is an attorney who has accidentally taken in the Hulk's blood and has become [a She-Hulk]," Tatiana Maslany confirmed in the featurette that showed the brand new footage.

In the comics, Jennifer became She-Hulk as a result of a blood transfusion instead of accidentally getting it. You may also notice in the footage that Bruce is not in his Smart Hulk persona during the accident just like when he showed up in the mid-credits scene of Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings.

It is interesting to learn that the character will have a different origin story in the series which is also not surprising since the MCU has taken a lot of liberties before in the origins of the heroes. Nevertheless, it is still a sensible way and direction for the character and it looks like the series will deal with Jennifer's complications of balancing her work, personal life, and superhero life.

The series logline reads: "Jennifer Walters (Maslany)—an attorney specializing in superhuman-oriented legal cases—must navigate the complicated life of a single, 30-something who also happens to be a green 6-foot-7-inch superpowered hulk."

She-Hulk: Attorney at Law is set to release on Disney+ on August 17.
