Shang-Chi Star Simu Liu Urges People to Get COVID-19 Vaccines

There is little doubt that COVID-19 has been a huge problem in the past two years. Although a vaccine is now available, not everyone has been vaccinated. However, Simu Liu wants to spread awareness about the importance of getting vaccinated. The Shang-Chi and The Legend of the Ten Rings star is sharing his own tragic brush with COVID in hopes it will push people got get the vaccine.

Simu Liu decided to share his story on Twitter. The Kim's Convenience actor revealed how his family suffered a tragedy due to COVID-19 and wanted to make sure that other people wouldn't go through the same thing.

"I lost my grandparents to COVID last year. They were still waiting for their vaccines. I'm fortunate to have been double-vaccinated and boosted when I got COVID 2 weeks ago. Felt like a cold," Liu wrote. "The media needs to stop spotlighting opinions that are not rooted in facts or science."

In another tweet, Liu pointed out that UNICEF is making sure the vaccine is available to more people and urged his followers to get vaccinated.

"As a @UNICEFCanada ambassador I have seen the organization's efforts to deliver vaccines to underprivileged families around the world. It's a reminder of how lucky we are to be living in places where vaccine delivery and storage are not an issue. Please, PLEASE appreciate that," Liu wrote.

Liu's message comes at an interesting time considering that fellow Marvel Cinematic Universe actor Evangeline Lilly is getting major backlash for attending an anti-vax rally in DC. The Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania star is now under fire as people are calling for her removal from the MCU sequel.

Simu Liu is expected to return as the titular hero in the sequel to Shang-Chi and The Legend of the Ten Rings. The first film is now streaming on Disney+.
