Sengoku Youko’s 13th episode has just aired, but that doesn’t mark the end of the anime. Shortly after the latest episode, Sengoku Youko part 2 was announced, and it will be released in July 2024.
This is great news for many fans, as it means the wait won’t be long for the show’s return. Plus, the three-month-long gap between parts should give other anime fans enough time to watch this underrated series.
Sengoku Youko Is an Under-the-Radar Winter 2024 Adventure Anime
Winter 2024 was dominated by shows such as Solo Leveling and Delicious in Dungeon, as well as continuing titles from fall such as Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End and The Apothecary Diaries.
Because of these shows’ popularity, other anime weren’t given as much attention. Among them is Sengoku Youko, an adventure fantasy series by White Fox (of Re:Zero and Steins;Gate fame).
This series is based on the manga of the same name by Satoshi Mizukami, and it is set in a world where humans and monsters called katawara are divided.
Its story follows Tama Youko, a katawara who wishes to end the conflict between humans and monsters.
She is joined by her brother, Jinka, who hates humans despite being only part monster, as well as the cowardly Shinsuke.
The show may not have gotten much attention last season, but it has gained a dedicated following. Plus, unlike other shows in winter, Sengoku Youko already has a continuation lined up.

Sengoku Youko Will Run for Three Cours
Even before the anime aired, the Sengoku Youko anime was confirmed to get three cours, meaning it should get a total of 36-39 episodes.
With this, the show is said to be a “complete” adaptation of the manga by the time it ends. Of course, it’ll be interesting to see if it will adapt the entire manga, as it is quite long at 17 volumes.
Previously, the release schedule for each cour hasn’t been revealed. Now though, it seems that each cour will air after a one-season break.
Sengoku Youko Part 2 Gets July Release
Shortly after the first cour’s finale, Sengoku Youko part 2 got a new visual that confirmed its July release window.
For now, there’s no word yet on a specific release date. There are also no details on its episode count, but considering that part 1 had 13 episodes, the next part will likely also be the same.
