After the controversial exit of Johnny Depp in the forthcoming Fantastic Beasts 3, the project's parent production company Warner Bros. Pictures has apparently wasted no time in finding his replacement. In case you haven't been keeping up with the news lately, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story actor Mads Mikkelsen is reportedly in talks to be the franchise's new Gellert Grindelwald. As it stands, however, nothing has officially been confirmed yet.
Now, to give us an idea of how the Doctor Strange villain would look like in the Fantastic Beasts universe, Australian artist BossLogic is at it once again with another "fantastic" artwork which depicts Mikkelsen as the famed FantasticBeasts villain. I gotta say, while it's a far cry from Depp's overall look as Grindelwald, Mikkelsen looks just as good, if not better. What do you think? Check out the awesome image here:
Of course, Hollywood recastings aren't new anymore and we've seen quite a few go down in the past. It's just really unfortunate, however, that Johnny Depp had to be on the receiving end of losing such a coveted movie role. Now, while it may appear like he's taking things pretty lightly these days and is handling the messy situation fairly well, one can't help but wonder how he's truly feeling inside. Well, there's really nothing we can do about it but I'm hoping Depp can somehow bounce back from all the controversy surrounding his personal life. I mean, we can't afford to lose an actor of his caliber.
Fantastic Beasts 3 is expected to hit cinemas in 2022.
