Robert Pattinson Says The Batman Leak Made Him 'F-ing Furious'

There was a whole lot of fuss over the news about Robert Pattinson's The Batman casting. Before Warner Brothers officially announced the news that the Twilight star was going to become DC's new Dark Knight for Matt Reeve's new movie, word started going out that he was in contract negotiations with the studio and that Nicholas Hoult was also being considered for the role.

It was quite a mess, the whole thing, something that Pattinson didn't really appreciate. Variety just recently spoke with the actor to discuss his upcoming film, and The Batman star admitted that he was furious about the news leak because back then he was still trying to land the role.

"When that thing leaked, I was f—ing furious," Pattinson told the entertainment news outlet, "Everyone was so upset. Everyone was panicking from my team. I sort of thought that had blown up the whole thing."

According to the actor, he felt that the leak would have ruined his chances at the part, especially since superhero roles are supposed to be secretive. Pattinson was in such a panic that he had to search for more information about the leak while he was on his flight to the Cannes Film Festival. The actor was worrying endlessly whether the leak would have cost him his job, and after an hour searching for information about the leak on his flight, he had realized that he had actually been sitting next to Christopher McQuarrie, the director of Mission: Impossible.

"I was sitting next to Christopher McQuarrie. I'd never met him before," the actor revealed. "Oh, God! He'd seen me Googling myself for the past hour!"

Lucky for Pattinson, McQuarrie understood what he'd been going through. Even luckier was that he landed the role. Now, we can't wait and see Pattinson appear as the new Batman.

The Batman is set to premiere on June 25, 2021.
