I think we can all agree that Tony Stark's legendary "I am Iron Man" line in Avengers: Endgame will go down as one of the best, if not the best dialogues uttered by anyone in a superhero film. Longtime followers of the Marvel Cinematic Universe also understand the significance of those four words delivered by Robert Downey Jr. which pretty much served as a full-circle moment for the actor who helped build the franchise and kickstart the whole Marvel craze.

But what if we told you that the now-legendary line almost didn't make it to the film's final cut? According to Downey himself, they toyed with the idea of using other dialogues as Tony's final words in the franchise. Appearing on the Hypocondriactor Podcast, RDJ, who rarely talks about his MCU tenure following his 2019 exit finally opens up about Endgame's universe-altering closing moments.

Apparently, he had some silly and pretty NSFW alternatives to the "I am Iron Man" line that thankfully wasn't used. During a mini-quiz portion in the podcast, the actor was asked about Stark's iconic dialogue and later revealed the options they had. He shared: "Correct answer is ‘I am Iron Man,’ but I had so many alt lines that I wanted to put forward… Oh god, let me think. They were all super smart-ass lines like I was trying to, y’know, dumb stuff like, ‘You are so f-cked’ or whatever. You know what, I’ll have to go back to my notes… I get the Infinity Stones and then have the power to snap and have whatever I wanna have happen--Oh, tha- I was gonna say ‘Oh, snap.‘"

Tony using the exact words he said to close the original Iron Man film to end his historic MCU stint is genius and I'm glad they went with it in the end.
