Robert Downey Jr. is set to reprise his iconic role of Tony Stark in upcoming attractions at Disneyland's Avengers Campus.
During the San Diego Comic-Con Hall H presentation, Marvel Studios officially announced that the Oscar winner is making his grand MCU comeback as Doctor Doom in the upcoming Avengers movies.
The news caught a lot of fans by surprise as they didn't expect him to return to the MCU, especially in a villainous turn. As it turns out, that won't be the only Marvel comeback that Downey will do.
Robert Downey Jr. to Play Tony Stark Again in Avengers Campus Rides
During their recent D23 panel, Disney Parks announced that Downey is returning as Tony Stark in new attractions for Disneyland's Avengers Campus.
The Oscar winner's voice will be heard in the Stark Fight Lab ride where guests sit in a pod as they go on a test light around Stark's suit-building laboratories.
"If you're up for another mission, Tony Stark has one for you. And you know Tony, he always wants to try something new and exciting, and it's going to make you feel like a Super Hero yourself," Disney Parks explained the ride.
"With the just announced Stark Flight Lab, you're going to sit in two-person pods and deploy to a test station. Then a robot arm grabs your pod and starts whirling you around in a simulated flight."
Downey's Tony Stark will also be part of the highly-anticipated attraction Avengers Infinity Defense where guests will join the Avengers in jumping between worlds to defeat King Thanos.
"Get ready for a multi-world adventure experience with Avengers Infinity Defense. Technology that allows the Avengers to jump between worlds has gone missing, and King Thanos is using it to wreak havoc everywhere," Disney Parks teased.
"Recruits will travel to iconic locations like Asgard, Wakanda, and New York City alongside the likes of big, and small, heroes. You also just might find yourself face-to-face with King Thanos, too."
While Downey's return as Tony Stark is exclusive to the Disneyland attractions, it is still exciting to hear that he will be reprising the role in new material alongside his Doctor Doom return in the MCU.
