Riley Green is introduced as former Navy SEAL Garrett, a friend of Kayce (Luke Grimes) and Cal (Logan Marshall-Green), in Marshals Season 1, Episode 8.
Garrett seeks the help of his friends to “put the demons of his past to rest.” The three previously served together in Afghanistan, but Garrett later became a musician after Cal allegedly ended his military career following the death of a fourth team member.
Garrett continues to blame himself for their comrade’s death, resulting in being “in and out of jail, psych wards, rehab, sleeping on the streets.”
Kayce tries to comfort Garrett, assuring him that it wasn’t his fault, and invites him to stay on his ranch to help him heal from his wartime trauma.
“We might not be teammates anymore, but we’re still brothers,” Kayce tells Garrett.
However, after receiving troubling medical news of his own, Cal warns Kayce that Garrett remains “combustible” after their last deployment and urges him to be cautious around him.
Will Riley Green Return to Marshal?
With Kayce’s invitation, it looks like Marshals Season 1, Episode 8 won’t be the last time fans see Riley Green in the series. In fact, he is set to return in the next episode, Episode 9, “In Low Places.”
The episode is expected to follow the fallout from Garrett’s storyline, particularly how his emotional state and past military trauma continue to affect his relationship with Kayce and Cal. Tension may also rise after Cal warned Kayce that Garrett is “combustible.”
With that in mind, fans can expect the new episode to further expand Garrett’s arc and place Kayce in a difficult position between loyalty and caution.
