Lucasfilm might have answered the question about Rey's (Daisy Ridley) origin in Star Wars: The Last Jedi, but it looks like the Jakku Orphan isn't satisfied by the answer given to her by Kylo Ren (Adam Driver).
Speaking in an interview with Entertainment Weekly,Star Wars sequel trilogy star Daisy Ridley decided to open up the topic about Rey's origin. Though Kylo Ren had revealed in The Last Jedi that Rey actually came from drunken junkers, fans weren't too keen on the idea that the Jakku Orphan came from a pair of nobodies. For the past few months, fans have been going on and on linking Rey to various characters like Obi-Wan, Luke, Han Solo, and sometimes even Emperor Palpatine.
Now it seems like Ridley isn't all that satisfied by Kylo Ren's answer either, acknowledging that "the parents thing is not satisfied – for her and the audience."
Accordingto Ridley, Kylo Ren's reveal shouldn't really be taken that seriously. Rey ought to determine the truth for herself, and that's the path that fans are going to see in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker.
"It's not that she doesn't believe it," Ridley says in her interview with the entertainment news ouetlet "but she feels there's more to the story. And she needs to figure out what's come before so she can figure out what to do next…"
We can only wonder what The Rise of Skywalker might reveal. Will it undermine Kylo Ren's origin for Rey, or will it continue with the origin that has Rey as the daughter of a couple of unimportant characters?
Let's wait and see.
Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker premieres December 20, 2019.
