Fran is a member of the Black Cat Tribe, the weakest Beastkin tribe that has not evolved.
This resulted in tribal discrimination as well as the death of Fran's parents for overexerting themselves in order to find the key to evolution.

Suddenly, Fran becomes aware of something dangerous nearby. She saw a caravan being ambushed by a horde of goblins and decided to assist them.
Randell returned the favor by offering Fran a ride to Alessa, which Fran accepted.
Randell mentioned the reason for the goblin attacks here and there along the way.
It turns out that the month-long conflict in the Marou plains has increased the activity of the Beasts, driving the goblins to the town's outskirts.
This was apparently caused by her master's destructive behavior when killing monsters and collecting skills.

Fran and her master visit the Adventurer's Guild, where they meet Nell, the receptionist.
Nell informed Fran that she needed to pass an examiner's test in a practical battle.
There, Fran encountered her examiner, the menacing and intimidating demon, Oni Donadrond.
The fight begins, and Donadrond takes the upper hand. However, Fran dodged and resisted all of Donadrond's attacks, eventually defeating him with the help of her master sword's magical art.

Donadrond then accompanies Fran to the office of the great elf, Klimt, where he questions her about her intermediate sword skills and advanced magic art.
Klimt never received a response from Fran because her master had ordered her not to reveal any information about their partnership.
Klimt and Nell then present Fran with her guild card. Her choice of Sword Mage as a class type improves her mana and sword techniques.
Fran also sold some of her items to the guild for 195,000 gold or JPY 1.9 million (around USD 13,000) in today's money.
Suddenly, a gang of obnoxious adventurers attempted to steal Fran's earnings.
They not only discriminated against Fran but also falsely accused Nell of dirty work and cohort.
The situation worsens when the red-hound adventurer attempts to attack Nell. They did not stop there and even insulted Fran's tribe.
Unfortunately for him, Fran used a deadly aura blade infused with vibration fang to sever the red hound's legs without drawing her sword.
Fran defeats the obnoxious adventurers and leaves them injured in the Adventurer Guild before the episode ends.
Meanwhile, a strange old man has developed an interest in Fran and her master sword.
