Quentin Tarantino Defends Lack Of Sex In His Movies

There is little doubt that Quentin Tarantino has directed several amazing movies that are always heavy on violence. However, people have also noted that there is a lack of sex scenes in his films.

But why does Quentin Tarantino choose not to include sex scenes in his movies? The Django Unchained director explained that his films don't need it since it isn't part of his vision.

Quentin Tarantino recently spoke to the Catalan Spanish newspaper Diari ARA where he defended his decision to leave sex out of his films (via Variety).

"It’s true, sex is not part of my vision of cinema," he said. Tarantino then added that there are other reasons why he chooses not to add sex in his films.

"The truth is that, in real life, it’s a pain to shoot sex scenes, everyone is very tense. And if it was already a bit problematic to do it before, now it is even more so," he said.

It all makes sense but Quentin Tarantino also pointed out that he would consider filming a sex scene if it was important to the story.

"If there had ever been a sex scene that was essential to the story, I would have, but so far it hasn’t been necessary," he said.

Quentin Tarantino has always been particular about his projects. The Hateful Eight director made it clear that he aims to helm ten movies before retiring. His career started out with 1992's Reservoir Dogs and his latest project was Once Upon a Time in Hollywood in 2019. Tarantino also points out that he considers Kill Bill: Volume 1 and Kill Bill: Volume 2 to be a single film.

Tarantino's tenth and final film is tentatively titled The Movie Critic and is going to be set in the 1970s. The movie has not yet been given an official release date. Stay tuned for more updates on this story.
