Prince William is very protective of his family. One royal expert even described him as a "control freak" when it comes to handling private information and what to share with the public about his family life.

Prince William Is Reportedly A Control Freak When It Comes To Privacy

Daily Express correspondent Richard Palmer spoke about Prince William's stand on privacy in the latest episode of Royal Round-Up. According to Palmer, as he spoke with host Pandora Forsyth, William chose to keep his COVI-19 diagnosis private.

"Prince William, shortly afterwards, went down with it [Covid] and kept it completely quiet," Palmer said as quoted by Express. "He's, I would say, more of a control freak about what he wants the public to know about life and what he does."

He added, "At the time, or when it finally did come out, I think as a result of a conversation he had [at a showbiz event], the argument was well, the Prime Minster [Boris Johnson] had got Covid, and was in hospital, the Prince of Wales had just had Covid and he [William] didn't want to alarm the public."

He explained that the public might be alarmed if the heir apparent, the second in line to the throne, and the Prime Minister had all contracted the virus. He wasn't sure if it was the real reason, but it was reportedly what was put forward.

In the ITV documentary Kate: The Making of a Modern Queen, royal commentator Katie Nicholl said the Duke of Cambridge wanted a private and quiet life. According to him, Prince William "guards the privacy of his family more highly than anything else in his life," and it was probably due to his background.

"His relationship with his mother, what happened to her, the untimely death and preceding that the breakdown of the marriage with Prince Charles," Nicholl explained. "Everything played out in the media, poured over in the press and he hated it. You can completely understand why all he wants is a quiet family life, out of the limelight."

Prince William Livid In A Leaked Video Where He Confronted A Paparazzi

Last month, a video of Prince William looking and sounding livid as he approached a photographer was leaked. In the clip, the Duke of Cambridge was enjoying a bike ride with his family in Norfolk, England, when he noticed the photographer stalking them.

"You came out here looking for us," Prince William told the photographer who denied his allegation. Kate Middleton can be heard off-camera that she saw him driving past their home.

"How dare you behave like you've done with my children. How dare you," Prince William said. "You were stalking around, you were looking for us and our children. I'm out for a quiet bike ride with my children on a Saturday and you won't even give me your name."

The photographer insisted that he was only using a public road and would have stopped filming had he recognized them.

"You knew exactly what you were doing," Prince William responded. "I thought you guys had learned by now."

The video received mixed responses, with some calling the duke rude while others defended him for standing up for his family's privacy. Royal commentator Liz Storer spoke via Sky News Australia's The Kenny Report about the issue.

She noted that there are a lot of things to consider why Prince William reacted that way. She added that it was "very out of character for the normally very docile" royal.
