The two Kensington Palace princes, Prince William and Prince Harry, have grown estranged. This rift widened significantly after Prince Harry opted for a lifestyle that diverged from their traditional royal duties and obligations to the U.K.
A new interview details what went wrong between Harry and William.
Why Did Prince William and Prince Harry Cut Off Each Other?
Despite growing up side by side with one another in Kensington Palace and taking the time to serve in the armed forces, Prince William and Prince Harry faced royal rifts when they didn't meet on the fixed road.
For Harry, 40, leaving his royal post to pursue a life with his wife Meghan Markle in Montecito, California, was the best thing that's ever happened to him, whereas William, 42, is left to fulfill his role as the future king of England while filling in his brother's shoes.
"There is no relationship," a source exclusively told Us Weekly that the royal brothers have not spoken in more than two years, as the royal historian Marlene Koenig doubled down: "Bridges have been burned on both sides."

Although Harry expressed his stance of wanting to reconcile with his sick father, King Charles, a source spoke for William and claimed that the older brother is "absolutely appalled" that their father's health battle was referenced after speaking out on the Palace's decision to lose U.K. security protection for his family.
"There is no turning back for William," the source continued, "The door is firmly shut."
Is There Any Hope of Fixing Their Rifts in the Future?
The royal historian added that while Prince William could potentially be open to having a private discussion, the fear of Harry going to the press to spill the tea about their conversation weighs more on his shoulders.
"The royals don't trust the Sussexes and their relationship with the media," Koenig said.
William had been keeping the family drama and anything related to the Palace under wraps, while his brother took the opposite route of unveiling personal details about their brotherhood in the 2022 Netflix docuseries, Harry & Meghan, and even in his own memoir, Spare.
Ultimately, "William cannot forgive Harry for having betrayed the royal family in destructive interviews and a memoir while at the same time, ruthlessly monetizing their royal connections in the US," the royal commentator Richard Fitzsimmons shared.

William is "hurt and betrayed" by his brother's comments, another source told the outlet, adding, "[William and Kate] just don't understand why Harry doesn't stay quiet."
But don't let the brothers' tension get under your skin. Previously, King Charles, who is undergoing an undisclosed form of cancer, spoke about his thoughts and is reportedly taking the "tough love" approach on his youngest son, with no plan of casting him off permanently.
"Charles never stopped loving Harry, but he doesn't want to [cause] any more tension within the family," the source claimed, "He can't bring his two sons together—that's something they need to do."
The King plans to essentially "keep his distance until they can find a way to talk." Stay tuned for more updates on this story.
