Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have been strained from the royal family after they left their royal duties in 2020. According to a former royal protection officer, Princess Diana, would be of "great value" to them if she were alive.
Prince Harry Wouldn't Move To The US With Meghan Markle If Princess Diana Were Alive?
Former Royal Protection Officer Ken Wharfe weighed in on how Princess Diana would have made a difference in the royal family's relationship with Prince Harry if she were alive. According to the former bodyguard, Prince Harry would not probably leave the royal family if his mom were there because she would remind the Sussexes to reconsider their choices.
"She might well have said: 'Well, if this is what you want, fine. But let's think about it first and foremost,'" Wharfe told OK! Magazine.
"I think what Harry was lacking was a true family ally. It seems to me that he was quite impetuous about wanting to leave and needed some advice."
He added, "Diana would have been of great value to him because she would have understood the situation. But equally, she would have realised that upping and leaving the country might not have been the best decision at the time."
Are Princess Diana and Prince Harry The Same?
Royal expert Jennie Bond believed that between Prince William and Prince Harry, the latter was more like their mom.
"I think Harry is very much the Spencer of the two of them. William is the Windsor," Bond said on GB News (via Mirror). "Harry is fiery, he is impetuous, he is vulnerable, he is fragile, very much in the way Diana was. He's complex in the way that Diana [was]. Diana was a very complex woman, absolutely likeable, lovable but difficult. Harry's forging his own way in much the same way as his mother did."
However, regarding how they dealt with the royal family, royal biographer Andrew Morton believed that the Sussexes and Princess Diana had different approaches.
He noted how the Duke and Duchess of Sussex headed to the exit door rapidly, while Princess Diana gave the firm a decade before she rebelled.
"Diana gave it 10 years before she rebelled and helped me [on the book]," the Diana author said. "They [Prince Harry and Markle] didn't even give it 10 months. He was meeting with Oprah in November 2018, which was six months after they married, to discuss a tell-all [interview]."
