While nearly every streaming platform has its very own recapping system, Prime Video's newly launched 'X-Ray Recaps' feature introduces a different summarizing service on the streamer! Here's what makes theirs unique.
Prime Video's X-Ray Recap is the Latest Feature on the Streamer
One of the best things Prime Video's streaming platform has is its X-Ray feature. The X-Ray feature shows the actors and their roles precisely when they appear in the episode or movie the viewer is streaming.
Now, not only will subscribers get to see that much accurate info, but viewers will also gain a new option in which they get up to speed with easy-to-digest summaries of the show or movie they're watching.
This feature is called 'X-Ray Recaps', Prime Video uses a generative AI-powered feature to tell viewers brief information and context on the "exact minute" they're watching.
According to Amazon, the X-Ray Recaps feature serves as refreshers through "short textual snippets" such as key cliffhangers and character-driven plot points that "can be accessed at any point in your viewing experience."
How and Where to Use the X-Ray Recap on Prime Video
Adam Gray, the vice president of the X-Ray Recap, explained that this new feature is to address the common problem that customers face when streaming content: "forgetting where they left off."
Powered by Amazon Bedrock, the AWS service for scaling generative AI applications, X-Ray Recaps is said to "analyze various video segments, subtitles and dialogue" so it could generate "detailed descriptions of key events" in the story.
The aforementioned feature can be launched while the viewer is playing out an episode they like on the same X-Ray page where the list of actors, music, and other trivia are available.
The X-Ray Recaps is not limited to the episode being shown on screen. Customers can choose from summaries of current episodes, the season so far, or even a refresher on what happened in the previous season.
The only catch, however, is that it is currently only available to Fire TV customers in the US, as of November 5, Monday.
Upon launching, X-Ray Recaps will be made available on all Amazon MGM Studios Originals (Daisy Jones and the Six, Mr. & Mrs. Smith, The Wheel of Time, and The Boys).
