Pokemon Sword & Shield Starter Sobble Can Literally Make You Cry

Game Freak is developing Pokemon Sword and Shield, two new role-playing videogames being published by The Pokemon Company and Nintendo. There's been a lot of news about the games today, and now we're learning more things about a brand new Pokemon in Sword and Shield with a delightfully bizarre ability.

Earlier this year, Game Freak introduced Sobble, one of the three starter Pokemon that players can choose from when they begin playing Pokemon Sword and Shield. Sobble seemed like a subdued and skittish starter Pokemon, and gamers couldn't help but tie the creature to anxiety. Now, a new press release published by the Pokemon company reveals one of Sobble's subdued abilities. According to the company, Sobble has tears that can be "as potent as a hundred onions."

Once the Pokemon feels threatened, it starts crying out loud, spreading water all around its surroundings. Sobble's tears then cause all of the other Pokemon to cry uncontrollably, giving the starter time enough to escape.

But that's not all. Sobble can also blend right into its surroundings when it touches the water. The Pokemon can also secrete this water into its body, allowing it to turn invisible when it feels embarrassing or nervous.

It's an odd little Pokemon, one that fans and gamers are going to love when Pokemon Sword and Shield releases later this year. We can't wait for the role-playing game to make its way to shelves later this year.

Pokemon Sword & Shield is set to release on November 15, 2019.
