Pokemon Sword and Shield Introduce Sirfetch'd the Evolution of Farfetch'd

After an initial teaser, Pokemon Sword and Shield has officially confirmed Sirfetch'd, Farfetch'd's evolution from the Galar region. Sirfetch'd appears to be around the same size as his previous form but the Pokemon's bamboo staff has been replaced by a leaf sword and shield, which is cute because these games are also called Sword and Shield. As far as evolutions go, this is pretty great and now everyone is going to prioritize catching a Farfetch'd.

The game claims that Farfetch'd that have done a lot of battle will be able to evolve into the more dignified Sirfetch'd. It's a cutie and is potentially more powerful than Farfetch'd, though that will likely depend on how you raise its stats. Sirfetch'd also has a move called Meteor Assault, which sounds like a technique from Dragon Ball Z and is an attack exclusive to this Pokemon.

Meteor Assault is powerful but it does come with a consequence. Using it will make Sirfetch'd tired and will render him immobile for the next move so make sure that the opponent doesn't have a Psychic-type or Bug-type. That's right, Sirfetch'd is now a Fighting-type Pokemon, which is a decent enough improvement from Farfetch'd's Normal-type.

While we would like to see the evolutions of the starter Pokemon from Sword and Shield, this little reveal is pretty great. The only downside is that Sirfetch'd is exclusive to Pokemon Sword, so those of us that are planning to get Pokemon Shield are gonna have to trade with others. As someone who is planning to buy Shield, this angers me greatly. Hopefully, Shield has a cool exclusive Pokemon.

Pokemon Sword and Shield are coming out on November 18.
