Studio Pierrot is one of the most prolific anime studios, not to mention one of the oldest. This month marks 45 years since the studio’s founding, and to celebrate, Pierrot shared a special 45th-anniversary video that features its iconic works such as Naruto, Bleach, and many more.

Pierrot released this special video on its official YouTube channel where fans all over the world can enjoy this trip back to memory lane.

This isn’t the only way the studio is celebrating its major milestone though, as there’s also a special pop-up shop that features exclusive anniversary merch.

Iconic Anime Studio Celebrates Anniversary with Special Pop-Up

As part of its 45th anniversary celebration, Pierrot teamed up with Japanese bookstore and specialty retailer Tsutaya for a pop-up shop.

This collaboration pop-up will be available in Tsutaya stores across Japan, and it will feature exclusive new merch for Pierrot's iconic anime, including Naruto, Yu Yu Hakusho, Bleach, Hikaru no Go, and Black Clover.

This merch won’t just feature typical character designs though. As it’s a big milestone for Pierrot, the merch lineup will feature brand-new artwork of the characters in traditional Japanese-style outfits.

Similar to other anime merch collections, this new pop-up shop will feature collectibles such as acrylic stands, can badges, and character clear cases.

As a bonus, buyers will also get a postcard for every 2,200 JPY purchase of merch in the pop-up shop.

The Tsutaya pop-up will open in stores across Japan beginning May 31, with the full list of stores and items listed on the website.

Pierrot’s 45th Anniversary Animated Video Is a Creative Showcase of the Studio’s Titles

For fans who won’t be able to visit Japan to buy the Tsutaya pop-up merch, the Pierrot 45th anniversary video is at least available worldwide on YouTube.

This video features a carnival theme which matches perfectly with Pierrot’s iconic clown logo.

It also features snippets of Pierrot’s works from decades past like the original Urusei Yatsura along with its latest shows.

The video also features the song Egaite by sasanomaly, a popular Japanese music producer and singer who performed the opening theme of The Case Study of Vanitas.

Currently, there’s no word yet on other collabs or projects for the studio’s 45th anniversary. Chances are that the current celebration will be small, as the studio’s 50th anniversary is just five years away.
