Amid all the controversy surrounding her personal life, Amber Heard excitingly confirmed last week that she'll return as Mera for Aquaman 2. Naturally, this new development infuriated fans who have long been calling for her firing. It's pretty obvious that a lot of people are hell-bent on having her lose her Aquaman role, that's why they've taken matters into their own hands via a Change.Org petition demanding Warner Bros. to remove her from the DC project.

The petition was published just last November 16 and it generated quite a lot of buzz on social media, enough for it to reach unprecedented numbers. In fact, as of writing, the "Remove Amber Heard From Aquaman 2" movement has crossed over 1.5 million signatures. Now, the folks behind it are hoping to surpass the 3 million mark.

It'll be interesting to see if WB will end up listening to fans but as it stands, that doesn't seem to be the case and for some reason, the studio's executives are doing the best they can to protect Amber in the midst of her heated legal battle with ex-husband Johnny Depp. It's quite suspicious if you'd ask me but we may never truly know why they're so adamant about keeping her in the franchise.

Aquaman 2 is under development.
