The Civil Republic Military (CRM) has the power to control machine guns and chemical bombs, and what makes them more dangerous is that they continue to strive for "what serves humanity" without seeing the potential damage to their mission.

The Ones Who Live episode 3, titled Bye, follows a new character's perspective, Pearl Thorne's (played by Lesley-Ann Brandt).

Considering she has been running under the CRM's operation as long as Rick has, she knows the military's methods from the inside out. It's no surprise she wants to carry on Okafor's words beyond his grave.

In the episode, she reminisces with Rick Grimes about the time Okafor spared her life when he could have easily killed her.

As of now, Thorne wants to succeed in her new promotion before she gets to improve the system of the CRM from there.

Before franchise fans forget, Okafor (played by Craig Tate) was one of the first high-ranking soldiers from the CRM who aimed to change their methods more humanely.

However, because the CRM views those who seek change as "rebels", Okafor dies trying, leaving his main goal in the hands of Pearl Thorne.

It is worth mentioning that Thorne initially didn't see what Okafor's goal was when he was still living, making this the perfect opportunity to see some character growth and development from Thorne.

While it remains to be seen what plans she has for the CRM, she demonstrates how much she would be willing to sacrifice to embrace her fate. This happens to include potentially killing Michonne and even her own friend, Rick.
