- Quick Answer: Tom Holland is planning his Spider-Man exit strategy, hoping to mentor the next MCU web-slinger just like Robert Downey Jr. did for him.
Tom Holland recently admitted that he is already thinking about passing the baton to the next Spider-Man actor in the MCU.
The actor is back as the beloved web-slinger in the upcoming film Spider-Man: Brand New Day this summer. It will also mark his tenth anniversary in the role since he debuted as the hero in 2016's Captain America: Civil War, and five years since he last played the role in No Way Home.
However, while there are no plans for him to step down anytime soon, he already has an idea of how he will pass the baton when the day comes.
How Tom Holland Plans to Pass the Baton to the Next Spider-Man Actor

In a recent interview with Empire, Holland opened up about the creative process when they made Spider-Man: Brand New Day and how he pitched his ideas on what his character should do next.
"[The producers and I would] meet once every two weeks to pitch ideas and discuss our ambitions and what we wanted to try and do. My pitch when I came to the table with it was called ‘Spider-Puberty.’ What happens if Peter Parker is losing control and things are changing?" he said.
"‘Spider-Puberty’ was my tagline pitch to the studio, which was immediately shot down. But they liked the kernel of the idea, and it grew into what we have in the movie now."
When the future of Spider-Man was brought up, Holland admitted that he is already thinking about how he would pass the baton to the next Spider-Man actor in the MCU when the time comes, since he knows that he won't be playing the character forever.
"For whoever’s next, whether that is a Miles Morales or a Spider-Gwen or a Spider-Woman or something like that, I would love to be a part of setting up the next chapter," he said.
"Whatever that looks like, I don’t know. But if I could do what [Robert] Downey [Jr.] did for me, then I would be so content swinging off into the sunset."
Aside from the upcoming Spider-Man: Brand New Day, fans have also speculated that Holland will be returning in the upcoming Avengers movies.
What to Expect in Spider-Man: Brand New Day
Spider-Man: Brand New Day will mark an entirely new chapter for Peter Parker and Spider-Man. Four years have passed since the events of No Way Home, and Peter is now an adult living entirely alone, having voluntarily erased himself from the lives and memories of those he loves.
Crime-fighting in a New York that no longer knows his name, he's devoted himself entirely to protecting his city, a full-time Spider-Man, but as the demands on him intensify, the pressure sparks a surprising physical evolution that threatens his existence, even as a strange new pattern of crimes gives rise to one of the most powerful threats he has ever faced.
The cast includes Tom Holland, Zendaya, Sadie Sink, Jacob Batalon, Jon Bernthal, Tramell Tillman, Michael Mando, Mark Ruffalo, and Liza Colon-Zayas.
The film is set to release in theaters on July 31. It will also be available on IMAX in select international markets.
