Park Bo Gum safely returns from the military, which means more movies and Kdramas for our beloved Bogummy!

On February 21, various media outlets noted that the Reply 1988 star had completed his mandatory military service.

According to The Korea Times, the actor and Petty Officer Second Class Park was effectively discharged from his Navy unit in the Gyeryongdae military headquarters as he began his military leave.

Due to the surge of COVID-19, the 28-year-old star is not required to return to his base as part of safety health protocols.

However, despite being discharged from his unit, Park Bo Gum's military service still remains as he is considered "an active serviceman" until his official discharge date.

To recall, the Encounter star enlisted on August 31 and was scheduled to be officially discharged from military duties on April 30, 2022.


What's Next for Park Bo Gum?

After successfully wrapping up his Navy service, fans are looking forward for Park Bo Gum's new movie or Kdrama.

Before enlistment, Bogummy's last series was the hit Kdrama Record of Youth alongside Park So Dam, Moonshine's Byeon Woo Seok and Kwon Soo Hyun.

As for his big-screen project, the sci-fi movie Seobok together with Gong Yoo, was launched in 2021, while he is serving duties in the military.

Interestingly, the 28-year-old star is set to star in the new film Wonderland alongside a star-studded cast.

Wonderland Cast and Release: What We Should Know About Park Bo Gum's New Movie


Prior to his enlistment, the officials behind the movie confirmed the roster of stars who will headline Wonderland.

Directed by Kim Tae Yong, the genius person behind the thriller movie MAD SAD BAD, Wonderland cast includes Bae Suzy, Choi Woo Shik, Jung Yu Mi and Chinese actress Tang Wei, who is also Kim Tae Young's wife.

Apart from the lead stars, Gong Yoo is set to have a cameo role, making the upcoming film a reunion project between the Seobok stars.

In the forthcoming sci-fi drama movie, Park Bo Gum will be Bae Suzy's on-screen husband as the duo plays a young couple.

She will meet the young man in a place called "Wonderland" after Bogummy's character meets his devastating fate and falls into a coma due to an accident.

Wonderland reportedly completed its production in September 2020 and is initially slated to premiere in the second half of 2021.

Unfortunately, it seems like Park Bo Gum's new movie was pushed through to a later date.

As of this writing, no updates yet regarding the Wonderland release.


Wonderland to Premiere on Netflix?


While fans wait for its global debut, rumor sparked that the upcoming movie is in talks to be released on Netflix; however, a representative of the streaming giant clarified the issue.

"It's true that it is under discussion, but nothing is confirmed," the official said, as noted by AllKpop.
