Caitriona Balfe, the actress who plays Claire in Outlander, recently admitted that she is doubtful if the famous series would get a Season 8. The time-travel show has already been renewed for two more seasons.

Season 6 of Outlander has wrapped, and the eight episodes will air weekly beginning Mar. 6. An Echo in the Bone, Diana Gabaldon's seventh novel, will be the centerpiece of Season 7, which will be a 16-episode season.

Outlander Season 8: Not Confirmed

Balfe was asked if Season 7 would be Outlander's last in a recent interview with Deadline. "I don't know what's going to happen," Balfe said, however, she did reveal that the program had only been picked up for a seventh season thus far.

Balfe did say, though, that she and the rest of the cast were grateful to have "gone this far," despite not knowing what was to come next.

“I don’t know what’s going to happen. This is the only one thus far that’s been picked up. It would be 10 years. We all feel like we’re so lucky that we’ve gone this far. Who knows what happens after that, but how lucky we’ve been, right?”

Previously, Balfe hinted to Vanity Fair that she might like going out with Season 7, although such decisions are “far above my pay grade.”

What Will Happen in Outlander Season 7?

Season 7 will be based on the seventh novel in Gabaldon's series of books, An Echo in the Bone. It's unclear which elements of that novel will be adapted in Season 7, but remember that a portion of Season 5's storyline was inspired by Gabaldon's sixth book, A Breath of Snow and Ashes. As a result, it's probable that Outlander Season 6 will also draw from Gabaldon's seventh book.

There aren't any Outlander Season 7 spoilers yet, but Balfe has said that the season will be "tough" to film based on the two Season 7 scripts she got in late 2021.

With all of the available source material, it doesn't seem unreasonable to believe that Starz will be able to keep its popular show running. Outlander fans don't have to worry about their favorite program ending just yet, with a seventh season on the way and Season 6 about to premiere.
