Outlander fans got a treat on Thursday when Starz released the opening title sequence ahead of Season 6 of the show. And, in addition to tweaking the version of The Skye Boat Song that plays at the beginning of each episode, we get a slew of hints about what's in store for the rest of the season.
Jamie & Claire: For Better Or Worse
Claire brandishing a rifle and intimate moments between her and Jamie are among the new scenes in the opening credits. Ian, Jamie's nephew, is seen sitting by the fire, while Roger Wakefield is seen kneeling in prayer.
Jamie and Claire are seen looking over the North Carolina hills as snow begins to fall around them at the end of the sequence. The Outlander Season 6 credits song includes a duet between a man and a woman, unlike the Season 5 theme song, which included a chorus, and the prior seasons, which featured a magnificent solo.
This shift could be a sign that Jamie and Claire's relationship is deepening as they embark on an adventure into unknown terrain.
Season 5 of Outlander concluded with a plethora of twists and turns, many of which fans of Diana Gabaldon's book series had anticipated. However, outside of the fifth book, The Fiery Cross, some plot twists occurred earlier in the timeline.
Outlander Season 6 is anticipated to begin soon after the events of the Season 5 finale, which saw the couple dealing with the consequences of Lionel Brown's attack and assault on Claire. It is based on the sixth book in the series, A Breath of Snow and Ashes.
Outlander Season 6 Release Date
Fans of the hit Starz series may be upset to learn that the forthcoming season will only have eight episodes (due to the COVID-19 pandemic). Season 7 has, however, already been expanded from 12 to 16 episodes to make up for the shortfall.
Despite this, fans can expect Outlander Season 6 to be as memorable as the previous seasons, thanks to the magnificent version of the new opening theme song and the new visuals.
The new episodes will air beginning March 6, 2022.
