Outlander Season 6 Will Be 'Hugely Different', According to Young Ian Actor

The long wait is almost over for Outlander Season 6. Fans of Starz's historical drama have been waiting since May 2020 to find out how the epic story of Jamie and Clare Fraser will continue in the upcoming season.

More hints about Outlander Season 6 continue to roll in. Now, John Bell, who plays Ian Murray in the show, dropped a huge tease about a difference in the next season of Outlander.

Speaking to Digital Spy, John Bell was asked about the fact Season 6 was going to be shorter, with fewer episodes.

"This season was hugely different on set, we didn't have the same ability to hang out with each other," Bell said. "We made the most of it on set but even then – we were one of the few productions that were allowed to run at that time and due to that special status we had to be so, so careful."

Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and the social distancing rules, production was forced to reduce the number of Season 6 episodes down to eight, which was a significant drop compared to the 12 episodes in the previous season.

Bell added: "But it is my favourite season so far, it is just so strong, the storylines throughout it – it feels like there is a change of pace, there is an ominous feeling that is happening this season.

"It is sort of like Harry Potter when it was getting darker, it is a little bit of that feeling that we can't stop this inevitability."

Outlander Season 6 is set to premiere on Sunday, March 6, on Starz in the U.S.; fans outside the U.S. can watch it on Netflix globally.
