Original Watchmen Artist Dave Gibbons Draws Own Impression of Sister Night

HBO's Watchmen is getting a lot of positive press thus far, increasing the anticipation many have for it. The graphic novel continues to be an influence on many comic book creators so fans have a lot of expectations when this series debuts next month. Since this is an unofficial sequel with original characters and a couple of returnees so it's cool to see Dave Gibbons draw one of the show's new heroes.

On the official Watchmen Twitter account, we see Gibbons draw Sister Night, played by actress Regina King, who seems to be the show's main protagonist. Gibbons is one hell of an artist so it's no surprise that his version of Sister Night looks stellar. Seriously, the drawing makes us wish that there was some sort of Watchmen comic based on this series, even if it will continue spitting on Alan Moore's legacy.

The supposed unofficial sequel to Watchmen should be interesting, taking place sometime when the graphic novel ended. Similarly to Doomsday Clock, we see that Ozymandias was exposed to that "alien attack" in New York and the fallout from that. We know that Doctor Manhattan exists in this universe so everything that has happened before is canon.

I'm not sure how to feel about the series but it should be a solid attempt at making a Watchmen sequel. If it gets people watching and talking, we could be in for another season or two, though we'll have to wait and see how fans feel about it.

HBO's Watchmen debuts on October 20.
