Orient is a manga by Shinobu Ohtaka. In 2018, it was serialized in Weekly Shonen Magazine before it was transferred to Bessatsu Shonen Magazine in February 2021. Kodansha USA acquired a license over the manga to release it in English in North America.
An anime adaptation by A.C.G.T will be released in January 2022. The series will follow Musashi, a 15-year-old boy. The story is set during Japan’s Sengoku period. During this time, Japan is ruled by demons. Musashi, who has a certain power, decided to confront the demons himself as samurai are considered taboo. What will happen to Musashi?
Orient Episode 1 Details
Orient will be animated by A.C.G.T and will be directed by Tetsuya Yanagisawa. Mariko Kunisawa will be in charge of the script while Takahiro Kishida will be designing the characters. To complete the team, Hideyuki Fukasawa will compose the music for the series. The opening song will be entitled, “Break Out” by Da-ice while the ending song will be performed by Wataru Hatano, entitled, “Naniiro”.
Episode one of Orient will be released on January 6, 2022. It will be available on AT-X and TV Tokyo. Those who cannot view the anime on these channels can stream the episodes on Crunchyroll. Medialink also has a license over the series and will release the episodes on Ani-One Youtube channel, iQIYI, and Animax Asia.
Crunchyroll has a free trial period for those who are new to the site. This means that they can stream Orient and other anime available on the site for free. Just take note that after the trial period, viewers must sign up to keep watching. They would also need to pay $9.99 per month or $79.99 per year. Being a member would grant them exclusive perks such as access to Crunchyroll’s libraries, ad-free shows, and offline viewing.
As of this writing, the total number of episodes has not been confirmed. There is also no official announcement if Crunchyroll will release an English dubbed version as well. Fans will have to wait for further updates regarding these.
