One Piece Sanji Voice Actor Throws Shade at Netflix Live-Action Cast

Netflix has finally announced the main cast of its upcoming live-action series adaptation of One Piece. Not surprisingly, people have mixed reactions to the news and there have been a lot of discussions about the casting. But what does the original cast of the anime think about the new actors? The voice actor who played Vinsmoke Sanji has some advice for the newcomers and somehow threw shade at the new Straw Hats Pirates!

Eric Vale has provided the English dub voice of Sanji in the anime series for several years now. With that in mind, he has a lot of experience when it comes to the source material and Vale made it clear that the new One Piece live-action cast still has a lot to learn.

Comicbook.com asked Vale if he had any advice for the new One Piece live-action actors. Interestingly, the voice actor's message for the cast pretty much stated that they need to watch the anime.

"You guys have a thousand episodes to watch before you can get the job right!" Vale said.

It might sound like shade but it's also great advice for the new cast. Watching the anime should give them a solid idea of how to approach their characters in the Netflix show. After all, most fans are expecting the live-action series to be as close to the source material as possible. Let's hope that the new Straw Hats are already researching simply by watching all of the anime's episodes.

One Piece will star Iñaki Godoy as Monkey D. Luffy, Mackenyu as Roronoa Zoro, Emily Rudd as Nami, Jacob Romero Gibson as Usopp and Taz Skylar as Vinsmoke Sanji. The series is already expected to begin production before the end of the year. However, it has not yet been given an official release date. Stay tuned for more updates on this story.
