Olivia Wilde was not very bothered with Wendy Williams' opinion about her as a mom and her relationship with Harry Styles. However, she was broken at how the audience reacted to the host's remarks.
Olivia Wilde Claps Back At Wendy Williams After Calling Her The 'Worst Mother'
The Don't Worry Darling director, 38, graced the cover of Vanity Fair for its October issue. During the interview, she opened up about her feelings for Wendy Williams, 58, calling her the "worst mother" and commenting on her relationship with Harry Styles. The host seemingly questioned why she left her ex Jason Sudeikis, 46, with whom she shares two kids — daughter Daisy Josephine, 5, and son Otis, 8— with the young One Direction singer, whom Williams believed would only leave her.
Wilde clarified that she didn't "care deeply" about the former TV host's opinion. However, she cared about the audience's reaction.
"It broke my heart, not because I care deeply about the opinion of Wendy Williams, but the applause from the audience made me sick," she told Vanity Fair. "I was like, 'Why are these women finding pleasure in this moment? Is it because it somehow makes them feel better about their lives, judgments, and choices without ever wondering why I might have made those choices?'"
The actress-director also pointed out that only a few people know the details about her personal life. So, Williams' perception of her didn't bother her.
"I just remember that nobody knows my private life except my very small, trusted circle," she continued. "And my self-worth can in no way be connected to perception because that's just a losing battle."
What Did Wendy Williams Say About Olivia Wilde And Harry Styles' Relationship
In a February 2021 episode, Williams talked about Wilde and Sudeikis' split. She also discussed her new romance with Harry Styles, 28.
"Olivia, you're going to look like the worst mother that's ever done it, like when they see that footage, 'You left dad [Jason] for Harry?'" the host told the audience. "Harry's going to leave you- oh sorry. He's young like."
Williams also speculated about the Watermelon Sugar singer's feelings for Wilde. She pointed out that she was his superior and he might change his heart once their project, Don't Worry Darling would, be done. She also commented on Wilde's looks.
"She's my boss. She's directing my movie. You know we'll promote it. Wendy will talk about it," Williams said while talking about Styles. "As soon as the movie's done I'm going back with a young girl my own age.' But she's hot, though. She's hot. But not hot enough to sacrifice your youth."
