Ed Sheeran and his wife Cherry Seaborn have been keeping their life under wraps in the privacy of their home, but in a recent surprise fan event in London, the 34-year-old singer shared some insight about the reality behind marriage.
What Did Ed Sheeran Say About His Marriage and Family Life?
Ed and Cherry have been married since 2019, and the pair share two children, Lyra, 5, and Jupiter, 3. Anything beyond that is usually kept secret. That is, until recently.
This week, according to The Daily Mail, the Grammy-winning singer opened up about his married life during a Spotify Q&A, which was also part of a surprise fan event featuring an unexpected street performance at London’s immersive Lightroom space.

Ed shared intimate, behind-the-scenes stories about how he created his newest album, called Play, and how it relates to his relationship with his wife, Cherry.
“Cherry knows I write about everything—not just the good stuff,” Ed said, “Songs like Perfect exist, but so do the ones about real conflict. That’s part of any relationship, and I think it’s important to be honest about it.”
He added that early on in his career, he prioritized his work. But the moment he had made his family, 70 percent of it went to them, and only 30 percent went to the music. “Balance isn’t healthy—it’s success.”
He also mentioned that one of the songs is written for Cherry, which was out of inspiration to gift her one: “It’s a personal moment that exists only for her.”

Ed previously made an appearance on The 2 Johnnies podcast, where he shared he is moving to the US with his family and joked that he might be “the only person moving to America.”
While the singer explained he was “going on tour there for a while”, his comment included “We’re going and settling there” with no clear indication if it’s a temporary living situation or permanent.
He addressed it on Instagram to accuse the media of having told a different narrative about the move: “Way easier to clear up stuff on here, so here’s me setting [the] record straight, coz there’s deffo a narrative press are trying to push that people wanna move out of UK for some reason.”
“I’m not moving, I’m going on tour with my family and relocating to the continent I’m touring on,” Ed clarified, “Don’t wanna commute from London to San Diego obvz.”
He added, “Also, this isn’t a tax thing, it’s USA, not UAE. I’ll always pay tax in UK coz that’s where I live. Play our Friday go listen to it x.”
