New Wonder Woman 1984 Video Teases Cheetah's Transformation

Aside from the first trailer, we haven't seen a lot of new media for Wonder Woman 1984 but it looks like that will all change when DC's Fandome event happens later this month. While we wait for the event to give us a new trailer - fingers crossed - DC did release a small teaser that teases Kristen Wiig's Barbara Minerva becoming Cheetah, which is definitely something.

Sadly, the teaser doesn't show Wiig becoming the superpowered villain just yet but Minerva does state her motivations, saying she wants to become an apex predator. How she gets like this will be answered in the movie but we hope it's not as two-dimensional as it sounds. Then again, if the movie has good actions and a solid story, no one will mind if the characters and their backstories take a backseat.

Cheetah is easily the most famous villain from the Wonder Woman lore and seeing her in 1984 should make a lot of fans very happy. Her history in the comics is a bit complicated, thanks to all the damn reboots, but she has been a constant pain in Wonder Woman's neck and you don't need a lasso of truth to validate that.

Despite appearing in a number of animated shows and video games, this will be Cheetah's first time depicted in live-action. While the casting of Kristen Wiig was polarizing, everything we've seen from the trailer and images has us confident that she will do well. Let's just hope for the best.

Wonder Woman 1984 is scheduled for an October release, while the DC Fandome event will be taking place on August 22.
