New Swamp Thing Trailer Teases Something Dark And Frightening Coming For Abby Arcane

It may have been cut down to only 10 episodes but that doesn't mean that Swamp Thing is getting any less terrifying. The new trailer for the DC Universe series promises plenty of frights as a sinister force goes after Abby Arcane (Crystal Reed).

The trailer opens with bleak shots of the swamp where Alec Holland (Andy Bean) is keeping a close watch over the waters. "For the last seven months, I've been out on the water," he tells Abby before showing her a vial filled with murky fluid. "See that? That doesn't belong."

But what exactly is it that these two are looking at? Whatever it is, it's making corpses come alive with twisty plant appendages and the need to attack the living. In this case, it wants to attack Abby.

Alec immediately has an explanation for all this. "The swamp, it's lashing out in anger," he says. "It's a fight to the death."

Unfortunately for Alec, it could mean the death of him. At one point, he is shown succumbing to the dark waters as Abby desperately calls for him. But is Alec really dead?

The synopsis for Swamp Thing reads as follows:

"SWAMP THING follows Abby Arcane as she investigates what seems to be a deadly swamp-born virus in a small town in Louisiana but soon discovers that the swamp holds mystical and terrifying secrets. When unexplainable and chilling horrors emerge from the murky marsh, no one is safe."

Swamp Thing is scheduled to premiere on DC Universe on May 31.
