New Star Wars: The Rise Of Skywalker Poster Reveals First Look At Palpatine

It's still unclear if we're getting a new trailer for Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker at D23 Expo 2019. However, we do have a new poster for the highly anticipated film and it gives us our first look at the return of Emperor Sheev Palpatine.

The new poster was unveiled at D23 and there's a good reason why people are already loving it. Check it out below.

The poster certainly puts the focus on Rey and Kylo Ren fighting with their lightsabers out. This fight is set to be the climax of The Rise of Skywalker so it's understandable that it has to be highlighted. However, people can't get over the fact that Palpatine is right there lurking behind them, probably thinking, "Good, good, let the hate flow through you."

To be honest, this isn't the Palpatine I was expecting to see in Episode IX. It looks more like an animation than an actual person. But then again, we haven't seen Sheev since Return of the Jedi so maybe he aged more gracefully than most of us, right? Besides, it's just a poster and there's a possibility that the Sith Lord will look a lot different in the film.

For now, there are no updates on a new The Rise of Skywalker trailer, preferably one with Palpatine in action. However, that could change as D23 continues all weekend.

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker will hit theaters on December 20.
