New Star Wars Report Reveals Lucasfilm's Ambitious Plan for the New Movies

During the recent Star Wars Celebration event, Lucasfilm announced their plan for the new Star Wars movies that are coming in the next couple of years which are the Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy project set 15 years after The Rise of Skywalker, the Dave Filoni Mandalorian crossover project, and the James Mangold project about the dawn of the Jedi.

A lot of fans were excited about the prospect that the franchise is going back to movie theaters although Lucasfilm did not reveal any release dates for any of the projects that they announced. Now, the question is what are their current plans regarding their respective release windows?

A new report from The Hollywood Reporter sheds some light on Lucasfilm's ambitious plans regarding the new Star Wars movie. According to them, the Obaid-Chinoy project is being set as the first movie amongst the trio that will be released in theaters as its development has been farther than the two.

Meanwhile, the Filoni Mandalorian crossover project might release a year later although it might change since they are still working on the timetables of the Disney+ shows that are currently airing or will air soon.

As for the Mangold project, the report speculated that he might start working on his Star Wars movie once he's done with the Bob Dylan biopic that is set to start filming this summer. It is also worth noting that the director is also working on a Swamp Thing movie for DC Studios.

If things go according to plan, we might start seeing one of these movies by December 2025 as Lucasfilm currently has a date reserved around that time and it is very likely that the Obaid-Chinoy project will officially take that spot once they'll give it a green light.

This is certainly an interesting direction for their plans for the future of Star Wars movies and, hopefully, it won't have the same fate as the movie projects that were announced where we've seen them getting canceled or put on hold in their development.

For now, let's just cross our fingers that their announcements will actually come to fruition and that the team at Lucasfilm has really cracked the code on how they are going back to the big screen.
