New Production and Casting Details on the Matrix 4 Revealed

It looks like we have new information on The Matrix 4.

According to a report by Cosmic Book News, sources in the Hollywood industry have given new details about The Matrix 4 saying that filming is going to take place in Berlin this year. The upcoming follow-up to the Matrix trilogy is supposedly going to be filmed both in San Francisco and in Berlin. The report says that filming is going to take place early in July in both locations. The working title of the project is reportedly "Project Ice Cream."

To those who haven't really delved into the production of the original Matrix movies, Berlin is the location where the Lana and Lily (formerly Andy) Wachowski filmed the 2012 epic science fiction movie Cloud Atlas together with German director Tom Tykwer. The city is the same place there the Wachowskis filmed the cult series Sense8.

Aside from production news, the entertainment news site has also been provided casting details for The Oracle in The Matrix 4. According to the post, the project is looking for an African-American female in her mid-70s to 100 years old for the role. The Oracle has been described as "earthy" and the casting call requires actresses to be no taller than 5'6".

While the project is looking for an elderly actress for the role, an additional detail for the casting demands that the actress should be able to walk over rough terrain without any assistance. Could this mean a return to Zion? Or perhaps we're going to get a new battleground in The Matrix 4? Let's wait and see.

The Matrix 4 is set for release on May 21, 2021.
