Back in 2019, Marvel President Kevin Feige officially greenlit a reboot of the Fantastic Four. However, three years after, there hasn't been an actual development about the reboot, including the next actors who would bring the heroes back to the MCU. Thankfully, Marvel Studios seemingly made progress by adding Better Call Saul’s Giancarlo Esposito as Fantastic Four’s arch-nemesis, Doctor Doom.
There have been several reports that Giancarlo Esposito has already set foot into the MCU months ago in a mysterious role. With that said, he could play any notable characters from Marvel Comics who haven't yet surfaced in the MCU. Now, it seems that Marvel Studios found the perfect role for Esposito.
In a previous tweet by Adam Barnhardt, one of Comicbook.com's writers, he posted a picture of Esposito with a picture of Doctor Doom on the side that instantly fueled speculations about his Fantastic Four casting.
Of course, fans were extremely delighted to see the fan-beloved actor getting a massive role in the MCU. With Doctor Doom's stature in both comics and previous franchises, it must be a wise decision to give the villain role to someone as prominent as Esposito. Aside from that, there were also rumors that he would instead play another beloved Marvel Comics character: X-Men's Charles Xavier, widely known as Professor X.
Choosing the right actor to play Doctor Doom might be the toughest casting decision Marvel Studios has to make, but whoever gets the role would surely have a substantial future in the MCU as a major Marvel villain. Just recently, Academy Award Winner Javier Bardem has also reportedly boarded into the MCU, and rumors suggest that the actor would also play Doctor Doom. For now, it's too early to assume who would succeed in landing the role. Hopefully, Marvel Studios would announce a definitive decision soon.
