It can't be denied that Captain Marvel star Brie Larson is easily one of the top players in the Marvel Cinematic Universe but we've proven over the years that the Oscar-winning actress is not everyone's cup of tea. In fact, since she made her MCU debut in 2019, the actress has become quite the polarizing figure within the fandom and a lot of people aren't too fond of how she presents herself, oftentimes coming out as self-conceited.
Brie is scheduled to make her Marvel comeback in the upcoming Captain Marvel 2 film which has been officially titled The Marvels. According to the latest rumors, the reason behind the title change is that Larson isn't seen as someone who can carry her own superhero series which is a little too baffling to believe considering the first Captain Marvel movie performed well.
Now, it's being reported by Giant Freakin Robot that the Avengers: Endgame is set to bid the MCU farewell with Marvel Studios planning to "replace" her in the near future. According to the entertainment website, the idea is for Carol Danvers to pass the torch to either Monica Rambeau or Imman Vellani, hence the title change for the Captain Marvel sequel. Of course, it's all just one giant rumor at this point so take it with a grain of salt, still.
Honestly, I don't buy into the rumors at all and it was probably just made up to generate more heat towards the actress which is already getting out of hand. A lot of people have mistaken the actress's dry humor for rudeness but if you'd ask her Marvel colleagues, they only have the nicest things to say about her so I don't really understand why the hate for her has become this nuclear.
Meanwhile, The Marvels is slated for release in November 2022.
