Gravity Falls may have ended back in 2016, and Disney Channel has yet to find another show of the same caliber. Just in, they've dropped a new look at the upcoming show The Owl House, and it looks fantastic.
This is the official description:
Luz, a self-assured teenage human girl, accidentally stumbles upon a portal to a magical new world where she befriends a rebellious witch, Eda, and an adorably tiny warrior, King. Despite not having magical abilities, Luz pursues her dream of becoming a witch by serving as Eda's apprentice at the Owl House and ultimately finds a new family in an unlikely setting.
Just based on the look of the show alone, you can see a lot of similarities with that of Gravity Falls. The creatures are kooky and creepy, and there's a lot of humor that's on point (e.g., "My eyes are down here.") Not to mention, Alex Hirsch, who created Gravity Falls, is behind the voice of King.
I also can't help but think there's some kind of dark underlying element that the story is going to slowly reveal. It's kind of the thing with these new shows. Gravity Falls had the whole fiasco with Bill Cypher, and Steven Universe had slowly revealed the Diamond Authority. I can't wait to see what The Owl House has to hide.
For now, The Owl House is set to premiere on Disney Channel on Jan. 10, 2020.
