Neve Campbell recently confirmed that she will be returning as Sidney Prescott in Scream 8.
Despite negative reviews from critics, the seventh Scream movie released earlier this year ended up being a box office success. It prompted Paramount and Spyglass to start developing an eighth movie, and fans have been wondering whether it will bring back the same cast.
Neve Campbell Confirms Scream 8 Return
Speaking recently with AP News during the premiere of the second season of Black Doves, Neve Campbell was asked for an update regarding the development of Scream 8.
She confirmed that she will be returning as Sidney Prescott in the next installment, but cautioned that it is still in early development at this point.
"Scream 8. That’s in the pipeline as well," the actress said. When pressed for more details about the installment, Campbell responded, "You know I can’t tell you anything about Scream 8. I’ll be in it."
While details are scarce at this point, it is still an exciting update for fans of the franchise since we have a confirmation coming from the actress herself that she will be back for the eighth movie.
It might take a while before we will be able to hear more news and updates regarding the development of Scream 8.
What to Expect in Scream 8
Spyglass has started development on Scream 8 following the box office success of the seventh film earlier this year.
So far, plot details are under wraps since it is still in the very early stages. It might take a while before fans are able to find out whether Sidney Prescott will be the center of the story once again.
Lilla and Nora Zuckerman, who worked on hit shows such as Poker Face and Agents of SHIELD, have been tapped to write the screenplay. They recently worked on the Buffy the Vampire Slayer revival project that was canceled by Hulu.
During the world premiere of Scream 7, Kevin Williamson revealed that he and Neve Campbell had already been brainstorming concepts. It's unclear why he is not working on the screenplay at the moment.
"When you’re sitting on the set at 3:00 in the morning, you’re like, ‘Well, what would Scream 8 be about?’ And you just start spit-balling," he said.
"And Neve had this great idea, and everyone seemed to run with it. So yeah, if this movie works and people want it, we’re here for the fans. So, if they want it, we’ll certainly give it to them."
