After years of waiting for a second season, it was announced that Tiger and Bunny 2 is slated to premiere in April 2022. This announcement was confirmed in the anime’s official website.
The anime is confirmed to have a total of 25 episodes with the first 13 episodes to premiere on Netflix on the mentioned premiere date.
In a report by Anime News Network, it is confirmed that Tiger & Bunny 2 will have a new story and will continue after the events of the Tiger & Bunny The Movie -The Rising- anime film. It is also confirmed that the previous cast of the first anime will be reprising their roles.
The first Tiger & Bunny anime series centers on heroes who are notable for having sponsor logos while fighting crime and maintaining peace on live television. The anime also expanded to two anime films: Tiger & Bunny the Movie: The Beginning and Tiger & Bunny The Movie -The Rising-, premiered in 2012 and 2014 respectively.
The new anime series will be directed by Atsuko Kaso at Bandai Namco Picture. Kase has been involved in Mobile Suit Gundam 0083: Stardust Memory. Masafumi Nishida will once again return and handle the anime’s series composition and Masakazu Katsu is also returning to do the character designs.
The anime, films, and the tie-in manga were licensed and released by VIZ Media for North America.
With the anime premiere still months away, this would be a good time to start rewatching the anime and the films. The series is well-loved by fans, so it comes as no surprise why this anime is getting a sequel.
The announcement of a sequel for Tiger & Bunny was confirmed back in April this year during the live-streamed HERO TV presents Anniversary Special Program which revealed the official visuals of the series’ main characters.
